Netflix domină competiția cu 42 de nominalizări totale pentru filmele și serialele sale, inclusiv Mank, Procesul celor șapte din Chicago (The Trial of the Chicago 7), Gambitul damei (The Queen’s Gambit) și The Crown. Amazon, platforma lui Borat Subsequent Moviefilm și Buturuga mică (Small Axe), urmează cu 10 nominalizări, în timp ce Hulu a primit, de asemenea, 10 nominalizări pentru titluri precum Oameni normali (Normal People) și Palm Springs.

După ce istoric au fost excluse din categoria Cel mai bun regizor, anul acesta regizoarele domină nominalizările. Emerald Fennell (Promising Young Woman), Regina King (One Night in Miami) și Chloé Zhao (Nomadland) au fost nominalizate alături de David Fincher (Mank) și Aaron Sorkin (Procesul celor șapte din Chicago).

Ceremonia de anul acesta va avea loc pe 28 februarie. Jane Fonda și Norman Lear vor primi premii pentru întreaga activitate, pentru contribuția lor în film și, respectiv, în televiziune. Amy Poehler și Tina Fey se întorc anul acesta ca gazde! Perechea a prezentat împreună spectacolul în 2013, 2014 și 2015.

Anul acesta va fi o schimbare majoră, însă. Amy și Tina nu vor găzdui ceremonia împreună, ci vor fi pe coastele opuse ale Americii, pentru a promova distanțarea socială și a preveni adunările mari. Amy va prezenta spectacolul de la Beverly Hilton, în timp ce Tina va co-prezenta de la The Rainbow Room din New York City.
